Our Story
The Glenwood Auto Service Success Story

Glenwood Auto Service was started in 1973 by an ambitious
26 year old named Jim Scott. Jim purchased and took over
a struggling Esso service station (at the corner of 8th
Street and Preston Avenue in Saskatoon) with a loan from
his father Jack Scott.
One
year later Jim had turned the business around and was
able to pay his father back. Glenwood Esso was born.
Between 1973 and 1988 Glenwood grew from three to five
service bays, and became known for their outstanding
service in the bays and at the gas pumps.
Jim stayed at this location until 1988 when his lease
was terminated. Jim decided to go on his own. He purchased
an old lumber yard on the corner of College Drive and
Central Avenue in Sutherland.
Glenwood Auto Service opened its doors for business on
July 4th, 1988. Jim brought nine employees over from
the 8th Street location – eight of whom are still
with the company today.
Glenwood now employs twenty one fulltime and two part
time staff members. Between
1988 and 2002 Glenwood grew from six to ten bays and
added a full-service automotive detailing centre to its
operations.
In
the summer of 2002 Jim retired and his oldest son, Rob,
took over the business. Rob has worked for Jim since
1995. With Rob in charge, Glenwood’s principles
remain the same.
