A battery can seem perfectly fine through summer and then struggle the first time Saskatchewan temperatures fall hard overnight. That surprises a lot of drivers because nothing obvious changed with the car. Colder weather simply exposed a battery that was already weakening. Cold temperatures slow the chemical reaction inside a battery while the engine needs more effort to crank. That combination leaves less reserve at the exact moment the vehicle needs more power. At our shop, we see plenty of batteries fail on the first cold mornings even though they started the vehicle without trouble only a few days earlier.
